The Purity Trials
The Purity Trials are a set of tests that each Reosean must complete before they are eligible for breeding - they serve to show that the Reosean can care for both themselves and any future young. You will need to complete all three trials in order to receive the PoB certificate, which is required before a Reosean may be bred.
Each of these trials is a little different and some have specific instructions depending on the continent your Reosean lives in, so read carefully! |
Rules
♦ Up to three Reoseans may be depicted partaking in the trials in each trial. Additional Reoseans may be added for CP purposes, but only three may be judged for the Trials.
♦ For prompts that require a companion, you may use either:
- A humanoid rider
- A Reosean (one of your own Reoseans, another person's Reosean, or a Starter).
- The companion may also be another Reosean entering for their Trials (Example: You depict Reosean A and B on their journey trial; A may be B's companion and B may be A's companion). Remember though, only three Reosean's may be judged to obtain their trials per piece.
♦ You may also give each Reosean their own companion or use just one for the group (i.e. if you have three Reoseans, only one companion is mandatory.)
♦ Submissions are to be posted on DeviantART, Sta.sh or the World of Reos Lorekeeper!
♦ The art will be compared to the rest of the artist's gallery. It needs to be comparative in effort, not per se in style. Mods reserve the right to deny submissions that don't follow the listed rules and requirements. If your submission has been denied and you would like to dispute that denial, please note the group (not Reos-Empire, as we do not check those as often).
♦ Winged vayrons may participate in prompts labelled Tyrian Exclusive
♦ As a CORE activity, this cannot be combined with an Quest/Hunt Activity. (With exception of the Sustain Trial, see the Quest/Hunt page for more information)

Images must be...
♦ Fullbody, colored, shaded, with a background, at least 500x500 in size.
♦ At least 75% (four bodily sections) of the Reoseans being judged for their PoBs must be visible. Any companions not being judged for PoBs must be at least 50% (three bodily sections) visible.
♦ If prey is required for the prompt, it must be at least 50% visible.

♦ If prey is required for the prompt, it must be at least 50% visible.
♦ Backgrounds should have at least separate 3 elements in them aside from the ground/sky. Clustered elements of the same type (such as many rocks stacked together) count as 1 element.
-- Correct Elements: Rocks, foliage, water, mountains, clouds, trees, moons, grass that is clearly separate from the ground (i.e. brown grass sticking out of snow) etc. -- Incorrect Elements: Sun, the ground, grass that is just an extension of the ground, sky. -- For an element to count, it must have some level of detail to it - meaning it needs some form of shading, lines, etc at the minimum- flat blobs of color will not count for elements. See the example to the right! -- Stock textures copy-pasted over the image will not count for detail. The elements themselves must have some hand drawn detail. -- Stamp brushes are allowed, but if these are used as elements they must still follow the depth and texture rules above (ex. if you use a tree stamp brush, you will need to hand draw some detail onto it for it to count as an element). |
♦ Reoseans should follow the laws of gravity; no floating reoseans just to fit extras into the image.
♦ Reosean markings need to be recognizably placed and shaped in comparison to where they are on the vayron's import (ex. randomly placed blobs for merle will not be accepted, they don't have to be perfect but they should be in a similar size and shape to those on the import).
♦ 'Stick Figures' will not be accepted, some amount of muscle or joint definition should be visible. Reoseans must also at least have their core features visible, such as Eyes, Mouth, Paws, Markings and their identifiable traits (tail and ears)

Literature must be...
♦ At least 1000 words.
♦ Reosean must be actively present in 75% of the piece.
♦ Lit entries need to have separated paragraphs instead of single continuous wall of text. It is incredibly difficult for the admins reviewing the entry to read a solid wall of text!
♦ As with art entries, lit entries can be denied in the case of low quality; no noticeable plot, using the same adjectives over and over again to make up word count, etc. Thesaurus.com is a fantastic resource if you're looking for words!

Submitting your Purity Trials
Step One: Go to the following prompt
Step Two: Copy the Reosean's URL (from Reos-Empire) into #2 Step Three: Fill out the form below and paste it into #3 An admin will get back to you and either request edits or pass the entries and give your Reosean their Pure of Blood Certificate. Link to Reosean's import: Link to Companion: Link to all three trials: Prompts Used: (If not mentioned in the Deviation) Previous Correction: (If applicable) ♦ If you are using a Certificate of Withdrawal, follow the same steps as above, but select >this< prompt instead!
- This will allow you to re-do the images or literature pieces on your Reosean's Purity Trials. You CANNOT submit a withdrawl submission without supplementing NEW Purity Trial images! The new images must STILL meet ALL of the requirements that regular submissions do. Example of cases of when you can use this: - When the images break/get deleted - When the Reosean has received a do-over and you would like to update the Core images - When you'd just prefer different art. |
Things to keep in mind:
- One Reosean per a comment - All three Trials must be completed in order to submit them. - Humanoid Companions do not require a reference to be linked on the form. - All Reoseans need to be uploaded before a trial/training involving them either as the one acquiring the POB/Training or as a companion can be approved. - Please mention the prompts you have used either in the description of the trial or in your comment. |
Journey Trial
The Journey trial consists of various tests meant to test for endurance, compatibility, and strength as well as the Reosean's will to survive. You can choose either to do the original prompt (journeying over a specified location) or one of the alternative prompts at the bottom.
Requirements
These requirements go for both the Expedition and Alternative Prompts.
♦ This trial must be completed in your Reosean's home continent (the continent corresponding with the background on their import).
♦ This trial requires a companion- you may choose one of the following for this company:
- Human Rider
- Another Reosean - either a starter or another Reosean (owned by you or someone else).

Expedition
This prompt is simple: Your Reosean and their company set out for a journey across their home continent, beginning and ending at specific locations outlined below. Draw your party on their trip - how do they deal with the distance? Do they have enough resources? Where do they camp for the night?
♦ Warrenfall: Your Reosean and their company must travel from Azrester to Bullmar. The only stop to re-fill their bags is in Fullcaster, so they must be careful with their resources. The trip takes 8-10 days. The trip itself will be mostly through thick forests, meadows and rocky mountains as the pair nears Bullmar.
- Requirements: One full body image, coloured, shaded with background, company mandatory.
♦ Roenden: The trip starts in the harbor south of Udreim, cutting through Udreim and then over the dangerous mountains to end in Roenden's capital. The trip takes 4-6 days. The trip itself will be mostly through the snowy plains of Roenden, mountain cliffs and canyons.
- Requirements: One full body image, coloured, shaded with background, company mandatory.
♦ Thedale: The journey starts in the harbor north-west of Cadena and continues right across the deadly desert to finish in Thedale's capital. The trip takes 4-6 days. The trip itself will be mostly through the endless desert of Thedale, the only savanna-like terrain is just a few miles around Cadena.
- Requirements: One full body image, coloured, shaded with background, company mandatory.
♦ Vitalus: Your party sets out at the gates of the Silver Province and extends from there downwards through Nepte's caverns - from there, you'll venture through the forest of Ebrus and end your trial with a trek over the salt flats and into the famed white city of Hoius. One of the longest trails for the Journey Trial, this venture takes most reoseans 10-13 days.

Alternative Prompts
♦ Harsh weather shapes the community’s way of life over much of the three continents. Draw your Reoseans facing strong weather conditions - for example sandstorms in Thedale, blizzards/avalanches in Roenden, or hurricanes in Warrenfall. How do they deal with these?
♦ Some Reoseans prefer to live their lives over the open water, pirate culture abundant throughout the Realm. Depict your Reosean either travelling across the ocean/sea, or just leaving port from their home continent. Your Reosean's home continent must still be apparent in your piece (glaciers in Roenden, sandy islands in Thedale, etc.).
♦ Along your journey, you’ll have to find shelter - and not always in the safest of places. Depict your Reosean either defending their temporary home from intruders, chasing the previous residents out, or being chased out themselves!
♦ Tyrian Exclusive: Regardless of a Tyrian's wings and their ability to fly, it is important they know how to navigate on ground level as well. Depict your Tyrian making their journey on foot, wings bound.

Sustain Trial
The Sustain trial tests the Reosean's ability to provide for their young, either by participating in a traditional hunt or an alternative prompt.
Requirements
These requirements go for both the Traditional Hunt and Alternative Prompts.
♦ This trial does not have to be completed in your Reosean's home continent.
♦ This trial does not require a companion and can be completed alone.
♦ Depicted prey must be at least 50% visible.

♦ Depicted prey must be at least 50% visible.
Traditional Hunt
The Reosean sets out on a hunt - if they bring a prey back, their trial is considered passed. Draw your Reosean either stalking, chasing or taking down a prey item from the Prey List.
Alternative Prompts
♦ Shelter is by far one of the most important things a Reosean must learn to concoct, especially if they are to successfully raise young. Draw your Reoseans constructing a makeshift shelter, or gathering items for it (i.e. logs, sticks, rocks, etc.).
♦ Not everyone likes to run after deer or face off with a bear- some of us prefer dragging our dinner up from the depths. Depict your Reosean gathering food from a stop at a seaport or fishing.
♦ Some Reoseans prefer not to hunt at all, and instead would rather have others do the dirty work for them. Depict your Reosean getting food from market or restaurant. Do they haggle with a vendor for some lower priced steak, or possibly try a more stealthy approach?
♦ Tyrian Exclusive: No Reosean will survive without food, and its well known that Tyrians can hunt both from air and from land. What's your Tyrian's preference? If they prefer to hunt by air, swooping down to catch their prey, how did it go? Did they get a good catch or miss completely? Maybe they accidentally captured a vayron? If your Tyrian prefers to hunt by ground, are they a stalker or do they run for it? Have they ever tried to catch prey underwater?

Loyalty Trial
The loyalty trial is the ultimate showcase of trust between the Reosean and those they choose to surround themselves with - surviving in solitude is difficult, they must be able to lean on others and provide stability themselves.
Requirements
♦ Choose one of the following prompts/circumstances to depict your Reosean in.
♦ This trial does not have to be completed in your Reosean's home continent.
♦ This trial requires a companion- you may choose one of the following for this company:
- Human Rider
- Another Reosean - either a starter or another Reosean (owned by you or someone else).
♦ Companions in this trial may also recieve the Loyalty trial simply by being present, similar to the Journey trial.

Prompts
♦ In the ultimate display of trust, your Reosean, blinded via a mask over their face, is guided by their companion through a difficult course consisting of various obstacles (jumps, holes, felled trees, etc.).
♦ For those seafaring Reoseans, depict your Reosean proving their loyalty to their captain by following an order, no matter how ridiculous it might be.
♦ 'Never leave a man behind' is a mantra that is important to many in the realm - depict your Reosean bringing in their injured companion for help.
♦ Where there's civilization, there's bound to be temptation. Depict your Reosean staying at their companion's side throughout some circumstance that seems tempting or taxing. Do they see a pretty female they wish to join, or perhaps they have to stay at their companion's side during a very tense or humiliating time?
♦ Standing guard is a common job in the Realm, especially when parties are stopping overnight. Depict your Reosean standing vigil whilst the remainder of their group with their companion slumbers or are otherwise engaged.
♦ Tyrian Exclusive: Just like Vayrons, Tyrians must learn to navigate while flying with little to no vision, counting on their other instincts, hearing and smelling. Depict your Tyrian being guided by a companion through harsh terrain such as dense woodland and similar whilst blindfolded or having their vision impaired by some other means (darkness, perhaps a potion that temporarily restricts vision, etc.)
♦ Tyrian Exclusive: Your Tyrian's companion is scouting ground level, and have stumbled upon a large predator. They call for help and your Tyrian is the first to notice - depict them defending said companion using the skills they’ve gained thus far.
