Bonding
"Let's get soulbound."
"What!?"
"What!?"
All Reoseans are extremely intelligent animals and when they reach maturity, they usually start to seek out a partner to bond with. This bonded creature doesn’t necessarily mean a Reosean they’ll mate with. Nowadays, the animals choose ‘their humans’ as their bonded partners - be it because of the rise in their demand or simply because it’s more practical for the Reoseans themselves.
Bonding itself can take from an hour to a few weeks. There are cases known where a Reosean went bondless for most of its life. It is a primal instinct to bond - Reoseans that couldn’t find another to bond with are known to go into a craze that usually led them to losing their minds. The bond itself is magic of the purest kind that needs to be held by multiple souls, instead of a single one. A bond calms and settles the Reoseans, giving their otherwise magic driven bodies a channel through which they can tune everything out.
The bond itself allows a telepathic connection for the bonded to speak through. Because of this, they will generally work much better together, hence why bonds are especially crucial if a Reosean chooses to bond with a human/humanoid companion. A bonded pair communicates with their minds via this telepathic connection, which makes life in general much easier for both the rider and the mount. Initially, the communication comes mostly in visuals or images from the Reosean's side, but a strong, long-lived bond can allow them to learn their bonded’s language and talk freely. Humans/humanoids do not understand a Reosean's language unless bonded.

Who can Bond?
♦ Bonds may be created between: yours and other members' Reoseans, your Reosean and their companion. A Reosean can be bonded to two different partners.
♦ In case you choose the bond to be created between yours and someone else's Reosean, we highly encourage collaborations. The art can, of course, be commissioned or drawn by you or your partner.

Bonding Stages and Rules
♦ In order to bond, your Reosean must have completed training.
♦ Submissions are to be posted on DeviantART, Sta.sh or the World of Reos Lorekeeper!
♦ The art will be compared to the rest of the artist's gallery. It needs to be comparative in effort, not per se in style. Mods reserve the right to deny submissions that don't follow the listed rules and requirements. If your submission has been denied and you would like to dispute that denial, please note the group (not Reos-Empire, as we do not check those as often).
♦ Bonds can only be forged between a Reosean and up to two different partners, be it other Reosean's or humanoid companions.
♦ To break a bond, you will have to acquire and use the Soul Cleanse Potion. More information below.
♦ As a CORE activity, this cannot be combined with an Quest/Hunt Activity.
You'll need three images total to complete your Reosean's Bonding - one from each of the below categories!

Images must be...
♦ Fullbody, colored, shaded, with a background, at least 500x500 in size.
♦ At least 75% (four bodily sections) of all parties being bonded must be visible.
♦ If prey is required for the prompt, it must be at least 50% (three bodily sections) visible.
♦ At least 75% (four bodily sections) of all parties being bonded must be visible.
♦ If prey is required for the prompt, it must be at least 50% (three bodily sections) visible.
♦ Backgrounds should have at least separate 3 elements in them aside from the ground/sky. Clustered elements of the same type (such as many rocks stacked together) count as 1 element.
-- Correct Elements: Rocks, foliage, water, mountains, clouds, trees, moons, grass that is clearly separate from the ground (i.e. brown grass sticking out of snow) etc. -- Incorrect Elements: Sun, the ground, grass that is just an extension of the ground, sky. -- For an element to count, it must have some level of detail to it - meaning it needs some form of shading, lines, etc at the minimum- flat blobs of color will not count for elements. See the example to the right! -- Stock textures copy-pasted over the image will not count for detail. The elements themselves must have some hand drawn detail. -- Stamp brushes are allowed, but if these are used as elements they must still follow the depth and texture rules above (ex. if you use a tree stamp brush, you will need to hand draw some detail onto it for it to count as an element). |
♦ Reoseans should follow the laws of gravity; no floating reoseans just to fit extras into the image.
♦ Reosean markings need to be recognizably placed and shaped in comparison to where they are on the vayron's import (ex. randomly placed blobs for merle will not be accepted, they don't have to be perfect but they should be in a similar size and shape to those on the import).
♦ 'Stick Figures' will not be accepted, some amount of muscle or joint definition should be visible. Reoseans must also at least have their core features visible, such as Eyes, Mouth, Paws, Markings and their identifiable traits (tail and ears)

Literature must be...
♦ At least 1000 words.
♦ All bonding parties must be actively present in 75% of the piece.
♦ Lit entries need to have separated paragraphs instead of single continuous wall of text. It is incredibly difficult for the admins reviewing the entry to read a solid wall of text!
♦ As with art entries, lit entries can be denied in the case of low quality; no noticeable plot, using the same adjectives over and over again to make up word count, etc. Thesaurus.com is a fantastic resource if you're looking for words!

Both parties will decide to part, but because of the magical nature of the bonding it is a very heavy and exhausting experience. It isn't without its suffering.
♦ In order to break a bond you will have to acquire and use the Soul Cleanse Potion. ♦ A Soul Cleanse Potion gets consumed upon use, and the bond will be broken. Step One: Go to the following prompt Step Two: Copy the Reosean's URL (from Reos-Empire) into #2 Step Three: Fill out the form below and paste it into #3 If you are using a Soul Cleanse Potion, follow the same steps as above, but select the appropriate prompt for **Breaking** the bond! Things to keep in mind:
- One Reosean per a comment - All three bonding images must be completed in order to submit them. - Please mention the prompts you have used either in the description of the bonding or in your comment. |
Stage 1 - First Meeting
♦ In the beginning of a strong bond, there's always the first meeting. Draw your Reosean and their bonded's first meeting. How did that go? Where did it happen?
♦ Sometimes first meetings don't always tell you enough about the other party - maybe it takes a second try. Depict how your Reosean and their companion(s) connected over something after a failed first meeting; what made them realize there was a connection?
♦ Not all bounds start with sunshine and roses, sometimes perfect companionship springs from competition and rivalry. Show the first conflict between them, who started it and how? Was it a simple slight, or serious conflict?

Stage 2 - Familiarity
♦ There will be no secrets when all parties bond. The trust must be absolute between all parties for everything to go smoothly. Draw your Reosean and their bonded(s)'s time together. How did they learn to trust one another? Were there obstacles along the way?
♦ For those who had a tumultuous first meeting, how did these overcome the negative aspects of this connection and inspire each other to grow in a positive way? Depict how both parties come to some understanding or respect toward one another to overcome their rivalry

Stage 3 - Soulbound
♦ The Soulbound ritual takes place once a month under the full moon, when the magic is the strongest. All receive a magic induced ribbon collar that ties them together as they undertake the ritual. Draw your Reosean and their bonded(s) wearing the ribbon collars (color is up to you). What is their reaction to the newly formed bond? Do they take off running into the field or stand nobly still as they wait for the magic to settle?
♦ Bonded Reoseans work much better with one another, the bond strengthening them both individually and as a whole. Depict them using these newfound strengths in some way, whether it be taking down difficult prey, defending their home, making a difficult journey, or some other harsh task.
♦ With the bond finalized and them connected only by a pair of matching ribbons imbued with magical properties, they compete in a good natured head to head challenge (this could be one of several things; hunting, a show of strength, etc. as long as they're challenging one another's skills in some way!) under the full moon. Does one party lose on purpose to show their lasting bond, or are all going to give it their all?
♦ Tyrian x Tyrian Exclusive: Much like birds of prey, some Tyrians will flaunt a successful bond in an aerial display, a dance if you will, ending with them diving head first towards the earth in close proximity. Display this spectacular show.
