The Red Flag Hunt

Picture

The hunting and slaying of formidable monsters (Bounties) will be the main objectives of the Red Flag Hunt, a recurring event. The Reos continents need to deal with these creatures quickly and effectively since they are a problem. The United Mounted Patrol oversees the units and directs those who are prepared and able to fight with them to eliminate any threats.

The group itself is as old as this event, which is now making a triumphant return. The fighting system has been redesigned to be more streamlined and user-friendly.

Tracking and Combat are the two phases of this event. Make sure to read this journal carefully as there are specific regulations outlined in it that either of them must abide by.

In the Red Flag Hunt events, your goal is to subdue and defeat the enemy. In the Information Gathering period, players will try to find correct information about their target. This information will give them an advantage in battle, and grant insights into the weaknesses of the enemy.
Defeating these beasts will yield great rewards. Despite the best efforts of everyone, there is still a chance a hunt can fail. Should the enemy not be defeated before the end of the event, it will flee.

Welcome, those that answer the call of the Red Flag Hunt!

CURRENT ACTIVE BOUNTY: -- NONE --

Phase I: Tracking

Phase I: Tracking

Rules and Information

♦ Reoseans must be uploaded to be able to track a Bounty, Any rank is welcome to participate.
♦ Tracking a bounty has no requirements, but players will only be able to track up to 10 times per player. These trackings can be done with multiple Reoseans, or a single one.

♦ Tracking can only be done once a day/roughly every 24hrs.
♦ Tracking a bounty may yield a correct or incorrect piece of information called 'Hints'. Providing a bonus image or literature piece will increase the chances of a correct hint being discovered. The information Gathering period will always last for two weeks, even if everything is found in the first few days. At the end of this period, we will announce when all the correct information has been found, but not clarify what is correct and what is false. This is where you will have to pool the information you obtain with other players, to decide on what is the truth and what is unhelpful.

♦ Providing a bonus entry will also guarantee a piece of Loot per DISCOVERED hint (both correct and incorrect), but it does NOT guarantee a hint!

♦ Beasts will have different hints each, and some may have more correct ones than others. If all information is found, all players will benefit even if they did not take part in the Gathering Information. This is a group effort and everyone benefits from everyone’s attempts. If by the end of the timeframe not all information has been found- the target will be significantly buffed. Know thine enemy and they will fall.

Additional Tracking Entry Rules

For a better chance at finding information, and some evidence to take back, an art or lit entry can be included with the Token.

♦ Art entries must at minimum be a coloured fullbody with a background, at least 500x500 in size. 75% of the participating Reosean must be visible. Art must have some effort put into it- it will be compared to the rest of your gallery. Art should follow the “setting” of the prompts if one is listed or a general 'looking for animal tracks' setting if one is not.
♦ Backgrounds should have at least separate 3 elements in them aside from the ground/sky. Clustered elements of the same type (such as many rocks stacked together) count as 1 element.
-- Correct Elements: Rocks, foliage, water, mountains, clouds, trees, etc
-- Incorrect Elements: Sun, grass, ground, sky
-- These elements should have some depth and texture to them - meaning they need some (subtle) form of shading at the minimum- flat grey blobs will not be accepted for rocks, flat brown lines will not be accepted for trees, etc. See the example to the right!
Picture
-- Brushes and textures are allowed, but if these are used as elements they must still follow the depth and texture rules above!
♦ Reoseans should follow the laws of gravity; no floating reoseans just to fit extras into the image.
♦ Reosean markings need to be recognizably placed and shaped in comparison to where they are on the vayron's import (ex. randomly placed blobs for merle will not be accepted, they don't have to be perfect but they should be in a similar size and shape to those on the import).
♦ 'Stick Figures' will not be accepted, some amount of muscle or joint definition should be visible. Reoseans must also at least have their core features visible, such as Eyes, Mouth, Paws, Markings and their identifiable traits (tail and ears)

♦ Literature entries must be 700 words minimum. The Reosean must have a substantial role in the lit piece (at least 75%).

♦ Only three Reoseans are allowed per tracking entry (if you're doing the entry yourself, you can include three Reoseans, if you collaborate between yourself and two other people, each person may only have one Reosean in the piece, etc). This includes spectator Reoseans (unless they are NPCs/starter Reoseans that you are not entering with).
---- When entering with multiple of your own Reoseans, the entry is
per Reosean! Make sure to mention all of their imports on the entry to ensure they're eligible for the +3CP!

♦ Art must be your own or collaborated on (three people max may collaborate on a piece).
♦ The Reosean you enter with must be your own or one of the starters! In the case of using your own, it must be
 uploaded to count!
♦ You will be bound to the continent the Bounty is located at. This will be listed in the corresponding post!
♦ These entries cannot be used simultaneously as a hunt/quest/pt/icq/etc.

Additionally, each additional entry posted to this journal during the event is eligible for the +3CP Event bonus!
To redeem the 3CP bonus, the entry must be posted to this journal between // - // and that submission comment has to be linked in the tracker. This ensures that the only pieces redeeming that +3 bonus are pieces made specifically for this event.

Prompt: Draw or Write about your Reosean tracking the Bounty creature. Do they examine tracks on the floor, or use their own hunting instincts? Or perhaps have they received a device that ''supposedly'' helps tracking wild animals? The world is yours! You have as much freedom in this prompt as you want.

PHase II: Combat

Phase II: Combat

The second phase will start approximately two weeks after the event has started and the Tracking phase has ended.

♦ Unlike the normal Battle System, there is no Preparation Round in Red Flag Hunt's combat phase! The Reosean will always go first.
♦ The Reosean participating must be Exemplar or higher and be in possession of a High Class or Specialty Class to be allowed to take part in the fight.
♦ The Reosean must have a Battle Tracker! See >>HERE<< for a guide on how to make one! This tracker can be on DeviantArt journals or on a Lorekeeper Gallery Submission.
♦ They will be supplied with a set of basic equipment and weapon of choice if they do not have any equipped. Please remember that to equip a Magic weapon, the Reos need to have Sparked their magic!
--- This equipment is reclaimed at the end of the event. The United Mounted Patrol want to make sure everyone has at least the basic protection and kindly request the return of the gear once the RFH has been completed.
♦ What this means is that if you still want to take part in the battle part of the event and do not have a Reosean at Exemplar rank or higher, you can use one of the starters below.
  1. >>> RBS: Bullet the War Priest <<<
  2. >>> RBS: Zombee the Warden <<<
  3. >>> RBS: Cassandra the Warlock <<<
  4. >>> RBS: Catalyst the Assassin <<<
♦ Once the current Reos has been ‘knocked out’, you can re-enter with another reosean that meets the requirements, or a starter.
♦ A player can only enter with one Reosean, once per day.

♦ A Reosean has 10 turns to do as much damage to it as they can! If they get knocked out, the player can start a new battle with a new Reosean straight after.
♦ Unlike the regular Battles, there are no Initiative rolls in the Red Flag Hunt. The Reosean will always start first!

Divine Blessing

Energy flows into your Reosean, imbuing them with vigor. Now, there can be no hesitation.

Items and Knockout Prevention

Every player will be supplied with a Small Healing Potion by the United Mounted Patrol. If the Reosean wants to bring a different item, they are more than welcome to but this overrides the supplied Small Health Potion. If the Small Healing Potion is not used in the fight with the Beast, the Mounted Patrol would kindly like the Potion back along with their gear.

Additionally, a new mechanic has now been introduced called the Divine Blessing.

Prior to entering battle, a Reosean may pray to Holy or one of the other Deities of the realm for protection in battle, effectively protecting them from a knockout once per battle, leaving them at 1 HP.

♦ Players will complete an art/lit piece following the rules for the bonus entry, listed in Phase I: Tracking, that include a Reosean entering Phase 2: Combat.
♦ Players may only complete one piece per Reosean.
♦ Effects stack with Enduring Will, with the Skill ability being used first, meaning the Reosean can survive two blows before falling unconscious.
♦ Up to three Reoseans may be praying per image but their prayer attempts must be posted by the owner of the Reosean.
♦ Pieces must have been made during the time frame of current Hunt.

  • Prompt: Before a battle, some warriors offer a prayer to a deity they follow or some other higher power for a blessing. Draw or write your Reosean uttering a small prayer before stepping into the fight. Interpretation of prayer, shrines, and higher powers are up to the player!

The final image must be submitted at the very start of your Reosean's battle!

Once your tracker has been confirmed in your first comment, please do not change it unless you have corrections to make. If we notice changes after this, we will ask you to correct this before we can process any more participation from you.

This will be considered your turn in the fight. Do not reply to the previous comment you made that the admin has replied to, as you will be guided to make a new reply on the thread. This is to ensure no turns are lost.
When the event is over, all reoseans who have been injured in this battle will be healed fully. There are no lasting wounds that persist after the fight--unless you want to make it part of their lore!
Enter using this prompt!

side phase: healing

Side Phase: Healing

The healing phase will start alongside the Battle phase, approximately two weeks after the event has started and the Tracking phase has ended.

During the battle with the raging Beasts, there is a contingent of healers--both magical and scientific--waiting to help those injured. Lead by the United Mounted patrol, they offer their healing in one of three ways:

♦ The first heal is a one time heal for 1d6+4 HP. This will be marked as used and become unavailable after this.
♦ Use Potion /item uses either the Small Health Potion the Mounted police have supplied, or the items that you, the player have equipped from your bank. Please be aware if you are using an item that you have supplied, this will be used and removed from your bank. Make sure that you do indeed have the item stored to your bank!
♦ Ask Ally for help is a bonus option that is one time only per Reosean. With this option you can supplement an art or lit piece following the rules for the bonus entry, listed in Phase I: Tracking, that include a Reosean of any rank that has at minimum their ICQ that is classed as a healer.

Up to three Reoseans can be healed at one time in an image, but their healing attempts must be posted by the owner of the Reosean. Please remember that you can only have one Reosean active in the battle at a time, you may draw them getting healed as an early preparation, but they can't be healed until they have taken part!

The Reosean doing the healing does not count toward the 3 characters in the image, unless they are also healing themselves.

Secret Phase: Sidequest

The Secret phase will start alongside the Battle phase, approximately two weeks after the event has started and the Tracking phase has ended.

Some battles in the RFH might include a side quest, relevant to lore or for an optional reward. These side quests are optional and do not need to be taken on if the player is given the opportunity but does not wish to follow it.

The main journal for the specific Red Flag Hunt will state whether or not a Sidequest is active. It is up to the players to find out what it is! Not all players will get access to the side quest, but the more you enter the larger the chance is.

The prompt will be given in the admin reply once you accept the quest.

If the prompt listed for the side quest requires an art or literature piece, here are the rules for those!

♦ Art entries must at minimum be a coloured fullbody with a background, at least 500x500 in size. 75% of the participating Reosean must be visible. Art must have some effort put into it- it will be compared to the rest of your gallery. Art will follow the minimum 3 Element rule for backgrounds, and should follow the “setting” of the prompts if one is listed or a general 'looking for animal tracks' setting if one is not.
♦ Literature entries must be 700 words minimum. The Reosean must have a substantial role in the lit piece (at least 75%).

♦ Only three Reoseans are allowed per side quest entry (if you're doing the entry yourself, you can include three Reoseans, if you collaborate between yourself and two other people, each person may only have one Reosean in the piece, etc. ALL OF THESE REOSEANS MUST HAVE PROC'D AND ACCEPTED THE SIDEQUEST).
This includes spectator Reoseans (unless they are NPCs/starter Reoseans that you are not entering with).

♦ Art must be your own or collaborated on (three people max may collaborate on a piece).
♦ The Reosean you enter with must be your own or one of the starters,
whichever has proc'd the sidequest and received the prompt in the battle! In the case of using your own, it must be uploaded to count!
♦ You will be bound to the continent the Sidequest is located at. This will be listed in the corresponding journal!
♦ These entries cannot be used simultaneously as a hunt/quest/pt/icq/etc.

Additionally, the side quest entry posted to this journal during the event is eligible for the +3CP Event bonus!
To redeem the 3CP bonus, the entry must be posted to this journal between // - // and that submission comment has to be linked in the tracker. This ensures that the only pieces redeeming that +3CP bonus are pieces made specifically for this event.

Crystalline Zataro

Nov - Dec '22

Type: Legendary Beast
Location: Warrenfall, Roenden, Thedale

Notes: Appears like a regular Zataro, apart from crystal formations impaled into their bodies. However, their behaviour is far different. Distant and mindless, they don’t seem to care for themselves at all. It was discovered that if a hit could cause the Crystalline Zataro to bleed heavily, the crystals would reform and obstruct its movement making their attacks easier to avoid. The pain would send them into a frenzy, which makes any attacks that hit more devastating. They are slower than their counterparts, but just as dangerous.
