Magic
"And should the magic disappear once more,
so will the animals, so will the people,
and so will I."

The use of Magic
The amount of magic in each Reosean differs.
While it is obvious in some Reoseans that they are born to be magic users (magical traits), in some you can't tell at all. Since any and all magical powers died down during Zorin's regency, there is still a large number of Reoseans that do not possess any magical powers at all, and the rest of them must learn to awaken their spark before they can be called proper magic users. With King Derigan's guidance and norms regarding freedom of will, the magic is once again blooming and some Reosean's bodies accustom to their spark by growing horns - a tell tale sign of magic within the creature.
The main use of magic is to ease the Reoseans' job workload and to help them quest. Magic can, of course, be used outside their work too. Some Reoseans take years to learn how to use their abilities and powers, but when they do they're able to move objects, use their magic as both defensive and offensive power, or help build the towns they live in. Some, however, don't use their magic for good, making them a dangerous enemy.
In the World of Reos ARPG, magic is mostly a way to gain additional bonuses as well as character building. With each magical level your Reosean achieves, the bigger and more valuable the bonuses are. See magic as something that will help you in a whole lot of different sections over the ARPG's activities such as quests, games and battles.

Magic Stages and Rules
♦ Submissions are to be posted on DeviantART, Sta.sh or the World of Reos Lorekeeper!
♦ The art will be compared to the rest of the artist's gallery. It needs to be comparative in effort, not per se in style. Mods reserve the right to deny submissions that don't follow the listed rules and requirements. If your submission has been denied and you would like to dispute that denial, please note the group (not Reos-Empire, as we do not check those as often).
♦ Companions may be mandatory depending on which stage you're at! For prompts that require a companion, you may use either:
- A humanoid rider
- A Reosean (one of your own Reoseans, another person's Reosean, or a Starter).
♦ You may also give each Reosean their own companion or use just one for the group (i.e. if you have three Reoseans, only one companion is mandatory.)
♦ As a CORE activity, this cannot be combined with an Quest/Hunt Activity.
♦ Before a Reosean with a Corrupted Mutation can undergo this process, they must have a Remnant Stone applied to them via an Import Changes. This allows them to harness a small amount of magic.

Images must be...
♦ Fullbody, colored, shaded, with a background, at least 500x500 in size.
♦ At least 75% (four bodily sections) of the Reoseans being judged for their Magic Awakening must be visible. Any companions not being judged for training must be at least 50% (three bodily sections) visible.
♦ If prey is required for the prompt, it must be at least 50% visible.

♦ Backgrounds should have at least separate 3 elements in them aside from the ground/sky. Clustered elements of the same type (such as many rocks stacked together) count as 1 element.
-- Correct Elements: Rocks, foliage, water, mountains, clouds, trees, moons, grass that is clearly separate from the ground (i.e. brown grass sticking out of snow) etc. -- Incorrect Elements: Sun, the ground, grass that is just an extension of the ground, sky. -- For an element to count, it must have some level of detail to it - meaning it needs some form of shading, lines, etc at the minimum- flat blobs of color will not count for elements. See the example to the right! -- Stock textures copy-pasted over the image will not count for detail. The elements themselves must have some hand drawn detail. -- Stamp brushes are allowed, but if these are used as elements they must still follow the depth and texture rules above (ex. if you use a tree stamp brush, you will need to hand draw some detail onto it for it to count as an element). |
♦ Reoseans should follow the laws of gravity; no floating reoseans just to fit extras into the image.
♦ Reosean markings need to be recognizably placed and shaped in comparison to where they are on the vayron's import (ex. randomly placed blobs for merle will not be accepted, they don't have to be perfect but they should be in a similar size and shape to those on the import).
♦ 'Stick Figures' will not be accepted, some amount of muscle or joint definition should be visible. Reoseans must also at least have their core features visible, such as Eyes, Mouth, Paws, Markings and their identifiable traits (tail and ears)

Literature must be...
♦ At least 1000 words.
♦ Reosean must be actively present in 75% of the piece.
♦ Lit entries need to have separated paragraphs instead of single continuous wall of text. It is incredibly difficult for the admins reviewing the entry to read a solid wall of text!
♦ As with art entries, lit entries can be denied in the case of low quality; no noticeable plot, using the same adjectives over and over again to make up word count, etc. Thesaurus.com is a fantastic resource if you're looking for words!

Submitting your Awakenings
Step One: Go to the appropriate prompt: Sparked, Magi, Spellmaster
Step Two: Copy the Reosean's URL (from Reos-Empire) into #2 Step Three: Fill out the form below and paste it into #3 An admin will get back to you and either request edits or pass the entries! Link to Import: Link to Entry: Magic Rank: Previous Correction: (If applicable) If you are using an Amnesia Tonic, follow the same steps as above, but select <this> prompt!
- This will reset your Reosean's magic rank to Enchanted, meaning that if you wish to change the magic class from the start you will need to apply an Amnesia Tonic first, and then reapply for a magic rank once more like you would have done the very first time. - You CAN use this if you are IMMEDIATELY replacing the artwork in the following cases below with new images. These images must still meet the requirements of a regular submission. Example of cases of when you can use this: - When the images break/get deleted - When the Reosean has received a do-over and you would like to update the Core images - When you'd just prefer different art. |
Things to keep in mind:
- One Reosean per a comment - Please mention the prompts you have used either in the description of the magic awakening submission or in LK submission. |
Awakening the Spark
Each reosean is born Enchanted, the only exception being Reoseans with mutant traits. Mutants cannot learn any magic; however, they do get different bonuses.
♦ Awakening the Spark is the first step to becoming a Magi:
Draw your Reosean discovering their spark for the first time. Did they accidentally sneeze out a puff of fire? Break an expensive vase while musing about pottery? Or perhaps they properly studied to awaken their spark? The interpretation is up to you!
Perks
Awakening the Spark image receives a +2CP bonus
+ 2 to the Magic Stat (Making the new total 7 (9 for Magical Mutated Reoseans))

The Magi's Choice
Once your Reosean reaches the Spark magic status and a minimum of Recognized political status, it is time to decide which Magi path they'll go.
- Reoseans can only choose to go on ONE of these paths. Choose carefully!

Arcanist
ARCANIST: Arcanists are both extremely powerful and dangerous to themselves. This magic path requires intense concentration and precision. Arcanists are able to animate inanimate objects, summon lifeless creatures, create arcane shields and draw life energy from others.
♦ Draw your Reosean animating an object of your choice or creating an arcane shield. Companion not mandatory. |
Perks
+1CP bonus to images/literature featuring Arcanist magic + 2 to the Magic Stat (Making the new total 9 (11 for Magical Mutated Reoseans)) |
Elementalist
ELEMENTALIST: As their title suggests, elementalists are able to control and command the forces of nature. Be it water, fire, air, earth or lightning. Elementalist are not tied to only one of the elements and while their primary element may, for example, be fire, they're just as capable of commanding water, air and the other elements as well.
♦ Draw your Reosean using one of the elements. Companion not mandatory. |
Perks
+1CP bonus to images/literature featuring Elementalist magic + 2 to the Magic Stat (Making the new total 9 (11 for Magical Mutated Reoseans)) |
Mentalist
MENTALIST: Mentalists are reoseans that bring magic not only into the bond they form, but also other creatures. While their telekinetic powers are the most apparent, they're also able to project images onto another's mind or use their power of harmonizing - invoking a certain feeling in someone else. Menatlists are the only Reoseans able to 'talk' to humans without a bond.
♦ Draw your Reosean using their powers to either: talk to their companion, soothe someone else's mind or warn off a predator by mind projection. Companion is mandatory. |
Perks
+1CP bonus to images/literature featuring Mentalist magic + 2 to the Magic Stat (Making the new total 9 (11 for Magical Mutated Reoseans)) |
Rites of the Spellmaster
Once your Reosean successfully achieves to become a Magi of one of the three paths and has a minimum Exemplar political status, they're finally one step away from exaltation and becoming a Spellmaster.
To become a Spellmaster your Reosean must:
♦ Be at least Exemplar
♦ Be a Magi
♦ Acquire a Spellbook
There is a 30% chance of failing when applying for one of the paths. When this happens, the Spellbook burns up and is destroyed.
Worry not, try again with a new spellbook, it takes time to learn magic. The next time you apply the chance of failing is 20% and it goes gradually down should it happen again. Be sure to link all your attempts in the Spellmaster prompt so we know what your percentage is! The image IS reuseable!
♦ Draw your Reosean using their hard learned magic, giving a celebratory show of their powers and achieving the Spellmaster title. Interpretation is up to the user! Companion not mandatory.

+2CP bonus to images/literature featuring magic
+ 2 to the Magic Stat (Making the new total 11 (13 for Magical Mutated Reoseans))
